INTRODUCTION

Founded in 1995, BEMA represents more than 350 leading companies nationwide in Botswana, through various initiatives, including the establishment of a strong networking platform across both the public and private sector. From its inception in the mid 1990’s, named the Exporters Association of Botswana (EAOB) the organization plays a critical role in Botswana’s economic shift from farming, beef, diamonds, copper and nickel to become a more diversified modern economy.

The Botswana Exporters and Manufacturers Association is a business membership organization or trade supporting institution based in the Republic of Botswana. BEMA operates on a membership basis; the secretariat represents the private sector businesses (exporters and manufacturers) in Botswana. The association’s representation is at national (we sit in various government committees), regional and global level.

 Through our representation we strive to build public confidence and free up the resources needed to tackle the reforms necessary to deliver a more prosperous and cohesive manufacturing/export base in Botswana. Through closer industry engagement, we are working to reduce regulatory and procedural burdens on businesses to enhance Botswana’s economic competitiveness as a whole.
